Let the Party Begin!

Happy Birthday Douglas David Wilson
September 5, 1980. That was a scary day and a joyful one as well. You came into this world 6 weeks early but your tenacious spirit fought through all sorts of maladies and miracles were witnessed that brings you to this day. So here are a few special moments we love about you.

You weighed in at a hefty 4 pounds and 8 ounces.
4 weeks later you would join Alan at our new home in Aurora, Colorado.

You always had a smile to share and was dads little tag-a-long.
You took many, many backpacking trip with him.

Your passion at 6 was soccer but was soon replaced by Volleyball,

and music. Thanks for all those great recitals and Band competitions

You were best apple grinder EVER, Can you even begin to guess how many quarts of that we put up over the years? And then the winter would come and off you would go with dad on some great skiing adventure.
Remember the Continental Divide trip?

But you know you were always a kid at heart and never really grew up.

There were lots of Parent paychecks, you know those kind of things like getting your
Eagle Scout rank, academic achievement,
always seeing you helping out your siblings, and graduations

Then you brought home a beautiful and wonderful girl to join our family,
now that was a big paycheck! Soon Andrew joined you and made us the grandparents
of the cutest boy ever. We hope you love your life, cause we sure do.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOUG
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, PAST, CURRENT
AND THOSE YET TO COME.

Bet you are just waiting for that "special story" well here goes.
We moved to Broomfield when you had just turned 7. Finally you and Alan had a room to yourself, in the basement no less. Seemed like you had half the house to just the 2 of you. That January was long, you missed your friends and so you and Alan asked me one day to start saving any rolls from the TP and paper towels that were empty. Not only did we save them but you enlisted the help of a few neighbors as well. Soon your room was filled with bags of cardboard tubes. Good thing cause Spring Break was right around the corner. The weather was a beast and we all holed up in the house. One day you came and asked me for a roll of tape. I gladly gave it to you. Soon Alan asked for the stapler, again "ask and ye shall receive." Soon you were back asking for a roll of string and thumb tacks. I raided my quilting supplies for the thumb tacks and you hurried back to your room and shut the door. At supper you and Alan made us all promise we would not go into your room until you gave us permission. Now that was a scary promise to make, the mom imagination was fired up thinking what you could be doing in there and I was a bit leary knowing what other things you and Alan had thought up in the past as "good fun." After assuring us that it would be good, we promised and then wondered how long we would have to wait for the "surprise" A few days went by and I found you both searching for small rubber "super balls" and then at last we were invited into the room. Wonder of wonders meet my eyes. Hundreds of TP and paper towels rolls, stapled and taped together to form this amazing "marble track" Feet upon feet of tubing suspended from your ceiling, chairs, beds and anything else that you could find to engineer this masterpiece to make the super ball roll perfectly through this maze of tubing. With you both demonstrating ow well it worked we watched with amazement as the super balls rolled up and down, around and though your room on cardboeard tubes. Who would have thought that one up.
So who was it you or Alan?
Anyway it was fantastic and truly a marvelous feat for 2 young boys. Spring break was finally over and never once did I hear "we are bored, there is nothing to do"
Once again I lament the fact that we had no camera to capture your ingenious free marble track.

30 years and Counting

Here is a BIG shout out to my sweetheart, best friend and confident. 30 years ago I had the good sense to say "I do", the best decision I ever made. It's been a great 30 years, 6 great kids, 3 terrific daughter/son in laws, and 2 beautiful grandchildren. May the next 30 years be just as fun, full of adventure and a great ride. Thanks for the memories Dinel Dan!!!

Here's to You Alan Grant Wilson

29 years ago you came into our lives and they have never been the same since (thank heavens)
You have made us smile alot, laugh alot and in general be amazed at your attitude, talents and sense of humor (sarcastic as it is). So here are a few memories we have of you that have evoked emotions we have never experienced until you came along.

Our angel baby

An angelic moment

You always had plenty of critters to share
and lots of music too (remember E.T. & Axel F)

You are always happy to help us rid ourselves of unwanted stuff

You crack us up with the funny things you do with body hair
His face say D+H (Doug and Heather)

You are always up for an adventure
and always there to help your mother with art projects, computer problems, learning new programs and lightening my pack. THANKS

We loved and envied how you could always sleep anytime and anywhere
and always set the example for the rest to follow

We always felt so blessed that you had a best friend in Doug.
We used to laugh at the two of you for hours on end.

This is one of my favorite stories of the two of you.

One day, when you were about 4 and 5 I could hear controllable laughing, and weird sounds coming from the kitchen. Curiosity got the best of me and I left James and Stacy in the family room to check things out. This is what I found. 2 little boys, sliding back and forth across the kitchen floor. The kicker was first you had poured 1/2 gallon of cooking oil on the floor, (they were coated in oil) then took a large package of spagetti and spread it all over the floor. I cracked up when I saw what they were doing and asked them just what they were doing. Their response was so funny, "we are skeitti skating" After they enjoyed their fun for awhile longer, they helped clean it up and and we had a firm agreement there would be no more sketti skating. How I wish I had a picture to prove just how creative you were in your play.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES AND LOVE
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALAN
(after all blue is your color)
